Each room has grown over the decades, through repairs, small additions, a new window here, a different bed there. We describe each one separately, so you can choose what suits you best.
The original parlour from the 1923 build. Walls, floor and the four-poster bed are made of two-hundred-year-old Swiss stone pine, cut by Anton Imboden himself. The floorboard creaks, some say it’s part of the lullaby.
The door only closes if you lift it slightly. A peculiarity we will not be fixing.
Small and still, with a slim oriel that catches the first sun. Named after the small alpine lake above the house, just deep enough to swim in summer. Ideal for those who write.
In the oriel stands a writing-desk inherited from the village priest, Pfarrer Truffer.
Two rooms in line, a sitting room with the old soapstone stove in front, and a bedroom behind, with two beds and a child’s berth. The west balcony catches the evening light.
The soapstone stove has been fired the same way since 1947.
The whole top floor. Three bedrooms, a small kitchen with a gas hob, a shared sitting room under the rafters, a long timber balcony with views across the Aletschwald to the Rhône valley. Named after the place where three glaciers meet.
In summer the heat shimmers under the roof, we recommend rising early.
There are no other rooms. We do not grow.
